Sunday AM: Exploring Athens - A Rocky Morning on the Acropolis & Areopagus

This morning dawned bright & sunny - it's Athens!

After breakfast the group began their exploring of Athens by traveling like the locals do, on the modern Athens metro (subway) system.  A short ride took them to the heart of the historic center where they met our expert city guide Xenia.
The group's first visit was to Athens' most iconic sight - the Acropolis, a huge rocky mount that rises sheer above the city, & the spectacular ancient temple atop it, the Parthenon.

From the Acropolis they made their way down to a smaller rocky outcrop just below, but one that holds huge relevance - the Areopagus or Mars Hill.  It was on this very spot that the Apostle Paul preached to the Athenians (Acts 17:24)!
